La Posta Publications Publisher Peter Martin has announced the release of the fourth in its new monograph series.

The Postal History of Douglas County, Kansas by Jeff Lough is only the fourth work covering Kansas postal history and is the first to focus on the fifth most populous of its 105 counties that is also home to the University of Kansas.

Author Jeff Lough, who lives in Douglas County, delves into all the post offices that have operated within the county and provides background, including dates of operation, name changes, and the first complete list of postmasters by town.

Lough’s research took him to all the major libraries, historical societies, and philatelic collections. The result is a thorough coverage of each of the ten areas that make up the county. With more than 150 supporting images, you’ll learn all about the Douglas County post offices, postmasters, postal markings, and resources for this significant Kansas county.

The monograph received support from Washington Dealer Dick Keiser, owner of DK Enterprises, the Alaska Collectors’ Club, Joe Crosby, the Eudora Community Museum, Historic Lecompton, the Raven Book Store, and the Watkins Museum of History.

The 8.5 x 11 inch, 88-page, full-color monograph is priced at $37.95 plus $5 shipping and can be ordered from: La Posta Publications, POB 6074, Fredericksburg, VA 22403, or from the La Posta website: www.lapostapub.com.
